The Human Ascendancy
Humans are the youngest race in Gantórann, but they’re fucking everywhere.
Anywhere they can squeeze in, they will, and they’ll claim the place as their own. That’s why they’ve been referred to as the Ascendancy, there’s a presupposed notion by those who were here before that one day humans will be all who are left.
The good news is that– for the most part– they’re wise enough to give pre-existing civilizations a pretty wide berth; even if they do claim those neighboring territories as part of their own kingdom on their human maps. They’re also the great builders of institutions, providing an advanced level of infrastructure the world never enjoyed before.
Feelings about humans are varied. They’re everywhere; not only have they build nations, established international laws, and founded countless resource networks, but they’ve also assimilated into all walks of life. There are half-breed human/orcs, human/elves, there are humans with magic, and humans who can speak with dragons. For most, humans are just a normal, if annoying, daily fixture. There are some, however, who don’t forget the youth and entitlement of humans, and can’t see them as anything other than arrogant invaders.
