Gnomes are like skinny half-dwarves on coke. They enjoy tinkering and chatting and I’m sure they are exhausting to be around.

Gnomes live in little neighborhood-like warrens up to large towns, often very close to other races, particularly Dwarves. This is because they’re all either very industrious, or very talkative, and need surrounding populations to feed off of. Lots of neighbors means lots of projects and lots of new friends.

Some people might be a little weirded out by gnomes, especially since their size is similar to that of a goblin, so if they just pop out of fucking nowhere like they often do, it’s easy to mistake them for a second. There aren’t a ton of gnomes in the world but you only have to meet one to get used to them. And most people have met several.

Barkspud Heaths

Barkspud is south of Séanmira forest, in the First Realm. It’s the home of rock gnomes, the variety that particularly like to build things.

The heaths of Barkspud are:

  • Collimator Rock
  • Serrurier
  • Fork Mount
  • Finderscope
  • Ironsight
  • Subaperture
  • Hexapod
  • Pitchstone
  • Beamsplitter
  • Downdraw
  • Fourcault Corry
  • Lampwork
  • Slumping
  • Pitting
  • Knifeline

Forestland south of Séanmira and a bit southwest of Barkspud. It is forest gnome territory, the gnome variety that are good at hiding and can chat with animals.

  • Mollisol
  • Gelisol
  • Greywacke
  • Loampentre
  • Neem
  • Alvar
  • Gornalstone

Rock gnome land. It’s a really broad territory that reaches all down the old mountain range that lines the east coast of Dathannachy.

The twenty-two borroughs of PeshKabz are:

  • Aeolipile
  • Bearing
  • Brake
  • Cam
  • Clutch
  • Fasten
  • Flexure
  • Follower
  • Four-Bar
  • Fulcrum
  • Gearing
  • Involute
  • Keys
  • Pins
  • Pitch Circle
  • Prisma
  • Pulley
  • Ratio
  • Revolute
  • Spline
  • Torque
  • Truss

Both rock and forest gnomes live in Podgerspanner. This region runs down the eastern coastline of the Third Realm, encompassing forestland and mountains in the north, and foothills and moorlands in the south. It bridges the northern half of the continent to the southern half along the Spanner Isthmus. You have to pass through this country in order to travel from one end of the Third Realm to the other without taking a ship or a warprondel.

There are 17 warrens:

  • Daristan
  • Gree-chy
  • Hwenmu Jy
  • Ghuasuwen
  • Scythebury
  • Lantern
  • Trellisam
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Hori-Hori
  • Strapwrench
  • Breakerbar
  • Fretsaw
  • Emory
  • Trowel
  • Labrys
  • Bradawl
  • Trencher

The forest gnomes of Serpopard at the southernmost end of the Third Realm are the most isolated and solitary of the gnomish nations. They don’t seem to have towns or even hidden clustered settlements exactly, instead they’ve got two sub-domains within their territory. These sub-domains sort of function as townships, except their role is more about organizing group identities than centralizing power. There are no “town centers” or anything like that.
The two domains are called Mimesis and Crypsis.

Rock gnomes live in Swifterbant, which is along the shore of the Armory Coast, in north central First Realm. These gnomes are weapons specialists. This area is very densely populated, to the point where several of these burroughs are not isolated gnomish territory anymore, they’ve become more like cities with large populations of humans and other races.
The human kingdom of Ffindwr specifically almost entirely overlaps Swifterbant. That in itself isn’t particularly unusual, all human kingdoms were build on or around existing peoples. What is odd is the degree of integration between the gnomes of Swifterbant and the humans of Ffindwr. Several settlements that were formerly gnomish burroughs are now human and gnomish cities.

  • Counterweight, referred to by the human inhabitants as Kentewiht
  • Arbalest
  • Quarrel
  • Rowelspur
  • Stonebow
  • Gabardine
  • Onager
  • Cranequin

  • Boxpool
  • Elmstave
  • Ceterharbor
  • Supergun

In the southwest of the Third Realm. The rock gnomes of Wolpertinger interact closely with the Woleketh forest elves and the dwarves of Ogofhertha.

Wolpertinger warrens:

  • Rasselbock
  • Ilwedritsch
  • Raurakl
  • Bonnacon
  • Làbh-Allan
  • Dobhar-Chú
  • Ichneumon
  • Vithopnir
  • Achlis
